| The Ghost in the Shell (2026) |
|---|
|
Recently I watched the first three episodes of The Ghost in the Shell (2026), the Science Saru series and I couldn't be more pleased. I want to make clear first that my approach to GitS is through Mamoru Oshii's film, its sequel Innocence, the PSX game, and above all, through the TV series (SAC), so I won't be talking about the fidelity of this adaptation to the manga. With this new installment, I feel something similar to what I experienced with Ranking of Kings: they've found a formula that perfectly blends modern techniques with a classic aesthetic. The camera work is frenetic, and the action never lets up, but with the same ease with which they toss out a joke, the series also gradually unfolds fascinating concepts from the cyberpunk universe its characters inhabit. Just when I was already completely sold, the series gifts me a beautiful ending, with a sequence that revisits some milestones in the history of computing. It immediately transported me to similar sequences I love: the opening credits of Autómata, and Animatrix's The Second Renaissance, Part 1. My overall feeling is that I'm very satisfied with this series being the entry point for many new people to the GitS universe, with plenty of material to explore that works as a complement to everything we've seen in the series. |

| This Winter in Chile |
|---|
|
I live in the southern hemisphere, so it's winter here. In my country, Chile, we're experiencing a terrible weather phenomenon known as El Niño. The past week has been really tough, with floods and power outages. In my particular case, I had to build a small gravel mound to keep my yard from flooding, and I also went 12 hours without electricity. Conditions have improved now, but this is definitely one of the toughest winters I've had to live through. |

| Tame Impala - Currents |
|---|
|
Today I woke up humming "New Person, Same Old Mistakes", from the album Currents by Tame Impala. What the heck? I'm not even a big fan of the band... or am I? Why does this happen, waking up with a song stuck in your head? It's so strange. Then I put the album on a YouTube playlist and realized it's a great album to listen to all the way through in the morning, not to wake you up, but to keep you in a dreamy, hazy atmosphere. |

It's the crossover of my dreams come true. And those sketches he showed look incredible! Coalowl's style gives such a dynamic and modern touch to the characters I've always loved. https://x.com/coalowl/status/2074124494416105826 |
